Rare CC41 1940s Linen Weave Cotton Shirt

A great shirt in immaculate condition with some marks here and there that will remove with a clean

CC41 was a British government mark introduced during the Second World War as part of the Utility Clothing Scheme, which began in 1941 to manage severe shortages of materials and labor. The mark “CC41” stood for Civilian Clothing 1941 and was stamped on garments that met strict regulations on fabric use, design simplicity, and price controls. The scheme aimed to ensure that civilians had access to affordable, durable clothing while resources were prioritized for the war effort. Extravagant features such as excessive pleats, cuffs, and unnecessary buttons were banned, and even fashion designers were recruited to create stylish yet economical designs. CC41 clothing became a symbol of wartime austerity and collective sacrifice, remaining in use until clothing rationing finally ended in 1952.
