Post WW2 US Army M50 Field Jacket
The U.S. Army M-1950 field jacket, commonly known as the M-50, was an evolution of the iconic M-1943 jacket used during World War II. Introduced in the early 1950s, the M-50 retained the M-1943's durable cotton sateen material and versatile design but incorporated updates to meet the needs of soldiers in post-war conflicts, such as the Korean War.
The M-50 featured a button-and-zipper front, adjustable cuffs, and a drawstring waist for improved fit and practicality. It provided robust protection against wind and rain while offering ample storage with large cargo pockets. While it was eventually replaced by the M-1951 jacket, which added features like a button-in liner for colder climates, the M-50 remained in service for a brief but significant period, symbolizing the transitional phase of U.S. military gear during the early Cold War era.
