A functional vest bag constructed using the original USN 1959 Technical Patterns for the original uniform issued vest seen in use by infantrymen in photo 2. Designed by the US Navy as a functional life jacket for PBR (Patrol boat Riverine) drivers during the Vietnam war the vest is the perfect design to remake and pay homage to its unique design.
Without the kapoks/buoyancy pads these empty spaces in the vest acts as the perfect bag…
Our version has been made completely to the specifications and standards in the military issue pattern with just the rear panel being graded up for the size of a MacBook in order to comply for functional use & give extra storage space. The zippers have also been moved from the bottom to remove the pads on the original to the sides in order for functional use as a bag.
The vest is made from a heavy weight Oxford cotton, lined with Japanese doby cotton and features heavy weight Excella zippers. Fully adjustable straps to the shoulders and rear for tailored effect to personal anatomy.
Our personal vest will be worn and thrashed to gain stains and natural distressing from heavy use, the white plays as the perfect canvas to wear in well & mix with period garments.
